Pein was very bad at strategy

Naruto got saved by PnJ. Kishi rigged the fight, technically he'd maul him in a rematch, it's just that Kishi wanted to develop some stuff. Hypothetically yes, according to the story plot not possible

that shinra tensei that is able to destruct konoha cost too many chakra.
if i were pein, i'll use that mind reader pein to tsunade, because the hokage should know where the jinchuuriki to that village is

He was that powerful he had no need for strategy its completely understandable. Plus you also have to realize that nagato is not exactly a shinobi he is more of a person with powers caught up in war. He didnt go to ninja school like the others nor is he a genius. He is pretty much a man with one hell of a gift. Imagine if kishi made him a genius with a rinnegan. It would be ridiculous.

That won't even work! How many times did naruto and kakashi take shinra tensei and still got up to fight? plus tsunade and those anbus that were chasing after deva path when he kamikazed the village took a direct hit.

The only mistake he made was to use that huge shinra tensei, in a war you take down the warriors before you loot/ravage the city but he decided to take down the city first causing his downfall. He seriously should have fought naruto first before destroying konoha.

He sounded pretty much like a genius to me(ninjutsu genius, but to be a ninjutsu genius, U need high intelligence as well). He also had sensei(Jiraiya, and later on probably Madara), commanded a ninja village and organization full of shinobis. Showed that he can analyze his opponents, and it looks like he is quite familar with one of the most famous ninja qualities, that almost no one in the manga uses - backstabbing people(literally) ;D So saying that he wasn't smart, or that he wasn't very skilled in the ninja arts, and his Rin'negan did all the work... sounds pretty ridiculous. Nagato just had such a confidence in his powers(and it isn't like they weren't godlike), that he rarely needed a tactics to begin with. Heck, if it wasn't the TNJ which Naruto used on him, he still might've had the power to capture him(didn't even use Gedo Mazo).

Yeah I agree, pretty much a weak version of the Rikudou. Funny how certain people ahem Naruto go through ninja school and come out like he hasn't learnt anything.
As for Kishi making him a genius with Rinnegan, that's Madara right now isn't it? A genius who's surpassed Nagato. Plus he didn't need all those years to master the Paths jutsus.

nagato's not a genius. He just possessed the Rinnegan. Sure he used it effectively, but not really a genius if he got trolled by Naruto.
and anyway at OP, your method wouldn't work even if Naruto died. Remember that the Kyubi will have died as well meaning that they'd have to wait years before it comes back
